About Equity Week

what its all about

Equity Week is a national week of reflection to highlight issues of equity in resource distribution in Kenya by fostering a broad based conversation about how we share resources at national and county level.

PURPOSE

The purpose of Equity Week is to stimulate a national conversation about the promise of more equitable development enshrined in the 2010 constitution and to ensure that issues around resource distribution are on the national agenda.

BACKGROUND

Equity Week was conceived by a coalition of partners (IBP, SID, Katiba Institute) but moving forward will have its own identity, with an independent website, independent social media platforms creating space for all partners to contribute and participate.

Event Overview

This year's activities

The week will involve a series of events that highlight views and ideas related to equity that emerge from the academy, civil society, government, the arts community, development organisations, and citizens.  These activities will include, among others, lectures, panel discussions, debates, readings, a film screening, poetry, community events and town hall meetings.

VENUES

The events will take place 13-17 November, 2017 around the city of Nairobi and in the North Rift, and through the mainstream media and online.
